When I'm on the job, I'm working really hard. I'm trying to anticipate what moments are about to happen, trying to find interesting ways of telling a story, or finding/making good light and composition. I come home from weddings totally exhausted because I've put everything into the day. But it's the best job I've ever had.
That feels particularly true when I get to photograph for family or friends. I get to create something deeply personal and intimate for them to be enjoyed for years to come. That's not something you can find on the registry.
Gabe & Rachel are good friends of ours and I was elated to be part of their wedding day as the memory recorder.
They married on a family lobster boat out in casco bay privately before celebrating with family and friends at the Island Lobster Company on Peaks Island. Their day was so low-key chill it didn't have that formal wedding day feel. It felt more like a big family celebration and a great party with friends. It really was a beautiful celebration of two really special people.
